Historical Note

Daedalus is the �鶹��ý��վ's quarterly journal. In the summer of 1983, it published an issue on "Arts and Humanities in America's Schools".  It follows two previous issues released in 1981 which also covered America's schools. In the preface to the issue, Editor of the �鶹��ý��վ Stephen R. Graubard notes that at the time there was public alarm over "the condition of [America's] schools," and that this issue, instead of answering questions, asks, "whether the record in any branch of learning today is adequate."

Scope and Content

This collection contains records created by the �鶹��ý��վ's Editorial Office, specifically of the editor, Stephen R. Graubard, relating to the summer of 1983 issued of the Daedalus "Arts and Humanities in America's Schools" (Vol. 112, No. 3), between the years 1982-1984. The files include funding information, correspondence, letters of invitation to participate, notes, research, drafts, and galleys. The bulk of the material spans 1983.

Arrangement

Proccessing for this series utilized “More Product, Less Process” (MPLP) principles: thus, minimal preservation steps were taken and folder titles listed in the finding aid are as they appeared on the original folders. Where lacking, folder titles and dates have been ascribed in brackets. 
Original order was maintained, with Subseries 1 and 3 being arranged generally chronologially, and Subseries 2 being arranged alphabetically.
