A prolific composer who blends Chinese and Western traditions, transcending cultural and musical boundaries, Dr. Chen Yi is a recipient of Charles Ives Living Award from the American Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ of Arts and Letters, Guggenheim Fellowship, Finalist of Pulitzer Prize in Music, and ASCAP Concert Music Award. Compositions span orchestral, chamber music, choral, and solo works. She is a devoted music educator, a strong advocate of new music and women composers. She believes that music is a universal language; to improve the understandings between peoples from different cultural backgrounds through music could help to bring peace to the world.
