The Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ conducts research and develops policy recommendations to advance the humanities in academic scholarship and in the public sector, to display the importance of the arts in society, and to enrich the nation’s cultural life. Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ programs in the Arts & Humanities put practitioners and scholars in conversation with individuals from other disciplines, ensuring that the arts and humanities are valued in all areas of civic life to enrich the health of communities and the daily lives of their citizens.

A Book on the History of the Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾

In advance of the Â鶹´«Ã½Íøվ’s 250th anniversary in 2030, the Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ is developing a book illuminating the organization’s history. The publication will examine where the Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ has fallen short of its goals to advance the common good and where it has excelled, and what it has meant for the nation it was created to serve.

The Commission on the Arts is a multi-year project with distinguished cochairs, more than $1 million of support from foundations and individuals, and a commitment to exploring the role of the arts in American life, with an emphasis on arts education and infrastructure.

The Humanities Indicators is a nationally recognized source of nonpartisan information on the state of the humanities, providing researchers and policy-makers with better tools to answer basic questions about areas of concern in the field.

Commission on the Humanities and Social Sciences

The Commission on the Humanities and Social Sciences claimed a space in the national dialogue for the humanities and the social sciences and recommended specific steps that government, schools and universities, cultural institutions, businesses, and philanthropies could take to support and strengthen these areas of knowledge.
