Laurie McDonough joined the American Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ in June 2015 as the Â鶹´«Ã½Íøվ’s first Morton L. Mandel Director of Membership Engagement. She designs and implements programs and activities that provide members with more opportunities to connect to the Â鶹´«Ã½Íøվ—and to each other.

Prior to joining the Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾, Laurie worked in Stanford University's School of Humanities and Sciences for nearly ten years. As associate director of development programs, she led annual giving, outreach events, stewardship, volunteer councils, and administration for the school’s External Relations team. Laurie earned an A.B. in chemistry at Bowdoin College and a Ph.D. in physical chemistry at the University of Colorado at Boulder, working under Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ member Stephen Leone.
